Hey everyone! So in my first blog I wanted to review my thoughts upon the two makeup products: Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless and Maybelline New York Dream Smooth Mousse. At first glance, the packaging looks similar with both containers in a circular shape with the tops twisting off where the product is and the bottom opening for the sponge applicator. As for the sponge applicators that come with both products, I'd have to say I like the Covergirl one better, because the Maybelline one just to me seems thin and you end up getting the makeup on your fingers from it sinking through the sponge. As for the product goes, I seem to like the Covergirl foundation better.
Covergirl:
I have it in shade 230, but it still seems a little too dark for my skin tone. One negative aspect of this brand is you have to be very careful when you buy this product because the shades do not seem to run consistently. I have been through three of these and all three containers have been a slightly different shade all under 230. I really like how it has a white spiral through the product to brighten it up though. I find it applies to the skin easily and thoroughly. For skin like mine with some imperfections, it does a great job at covering everything, but doesn't feel cakey or thick. The end product looks very natural and makes your skin look even and smooth if applied correctly. It also helps to minimize fine lines like around your eyes, forehead, and even mouth. It also has SPF 22 in it, whereas the Maybelline one doesn't have any SPF. This product is a little pricier than other products at around 12 dollars, but it does last awhile.
Dream Smooth Mousse:
I'm not a big fan of this product. I decided to try this out of curiosity because the commercials for it that have been playing frequently made it look wonderful but when I got it and tried it out with high hopes, I found it wasn't all that wonderful. I'm sure that for people with perfect porcelain skin already this makeup would look fabulous on you, but isn't the point of makeup to make your skin look great, right? This makeup does nothing for my skin. It is very light weight and just seems to soak in to my skin leaving me just the was I looked before. I have this in the shade 110 porcelain ivory for only around 8 dollars. Sounds great, right? Not really. There really isn't much more to say about this product because it is a very bland product.
Final line:
My suggestion to everyone is to go ahead and buy the Covergirl and Olay foundation. All around it is a great product with wonderful coverage. I would just recommend swatching the foundation on the back of your hand to find the best matching color for your skin tone.
